We love giving back to our community and one organization that we support is Water Watch. Their mission is to protect and restore flows in our rivers to sustain the native fish, wildlife, and the people who depend on healthy rivers. This past weekend, The Caplener Group was a proud sponsor at their annual auction. Held on November 5th at The Tiffany Center, to a sold out crowd. Complete with a silent, auction and program it was a fun night working for a great cause.
They met their goal of $170,000! The annual auction is a general fundraiser for the organization, and it funds several projects and support the operating capacity of WaterWatch. For a list of what they are currently working on, please visit their website: http://www.waterwatch.org
As unbelievable as it may seem, the holiday season is now upon us. Things are about to get busy very quickly and during this time of year, it can be easy to focus on the little things and forget the big picture. For most of us, it’s a time of year to celebrate with gift giving, but we also need to remember that there are so many in our own town that don’t have the basic necessities that we take for granted.
For the last few years, The Caplener~Lincoln group has worked with Impact Northwest to collect donations and volunteer at its yearly Holiday Magic Gift Drive and Holiday Store.
Impact Northwest is a local non-profit whose mission is to help people prosper through a community of support. Community is the key word; they say: “By working with schools, businesses, faith communities, other community-based organizations, and governmental agencies, we create a safety net and springboard for community members to improve their quality of life and achieve independence.” Primarily facing issues of local poverty, Impact Northwest, founded in 1966, annually helps over 60,000 low-income children, youth, families, seniors, and adults with disabilities.
It starts with you – from now until the middle of December, we will be collecting donations in our office. Impact NW is badly in need of baby items (diapers, blankets, toys, etc.), clothes and toys for children, teen gifts, and outerwear for all ages. Then, in December, the team will be bringing all donations to, and working at, the Holiday Store.
The Holiday Store is a unique opportunity to connect those in need with the items they need. All guests are invited to choose a predetermined number of items from a variety of categories – from necessities to toys and everything in between. It has always been an extremely powerful and important experience for us to be involved with such a hands-on process of giving back.

We are in the business of homes, and we work hard every day to assist our clients buying or selling. One of our greatest joys as brokers is being able to help our clients with such a big and important process – and it breaks our hearts to know that there are so many people in our own country that are now without their homes, possessions, and are perhaps in physical peril. During trying times like these, we believe it is extremely important to help those that are in need.
In light of the current situation on the East Coast relating to Hurricane Sandy, Realty Trust Group has made a contribution to the Red Cross to assist with disaster relief efforts.
